Our Next Step in Sustainability: Minimal Packaging
Why we're making this change -
Sustainability has been a part of the business we take seriously since day one. As we evolve and learn more about sustainable practices, we've come to an important realization: no matter how sustainable our packaging materials are, their environmental impact depends entirely on the recycling infrastructure of where they end up. And that infrastructure varies dramatically around the world.
We believe the most sustainable practice isn't just using recyclable materials—it's eliminating excess packaging one step at a time.

The Reality of Global Recycling
While recyclable package is environmentally friendly, the global reality of recycling programs still have a long way to go :
Paper Packaging
- As of 2024 - Europe has achieved a 74% recycling rate, but the global average is about 60%
- Many developing countries rely on open dumping rather than recycling facilities
Plastic Components
- Of 9.2 billion tons of plastic produced worldwide, just 9% gets recycled
- Even the best-performing countries achieve modest rates: South Korea leads at 57%, Germany follows as a global leader, while most OECD European countries reach only 12-13%
- In the US in 2021, only 5-6%% of post-consumer plastics are recycled, down from 8.7% in 2018.
This means : The beautiful packages we use for our products still might end up in a landfill regardless of how sustainable the materials are, simply because adequate recycling infrastructure doesn't exist everywhere we ship to.

OUR SOLUTION
STRIP DOWN TO ESSENTIALS - A GREAT PRODUCT WITH MINIMAL PACKAGING
We will gradually switch into minimal packaging for each product as we use up our existing packaging supplies.
Your Khaore piece will arrive with only what's necessary for protection during shipping:
- Protective layers to ensure the bag in perfect condition
- Dust bag
- Shipper box
What we're eliminating:
- Decorative box and unnecessary stuffing (wrapping paper and filling)
- Printed care packages (which you can find online)
- Originally - we thought of keeping an option of providing gifting and wrapping but recognize that it will be counterproductive on our effort to eliminate waste in the long run, so we have decided to take out the option.
We understand that unboxing experiences matter, but here's what we believe: 5 or 10 years from now, the packaging will be long gone, but your Khaore piece will still be with you. The product is what truly matters.
By focusing on minimal packaging, we ensure our environmental commitment works everywhere in the world—regardless of local recycling capabilities.

A THANK YOU
This change will enable us to maximize our positive environmental impact. As our way of saying thank you for joining us on this sustainable journey, we're sharing 5% savings back to you that will be automatically applied at checkout if the products you have purchased uses minimal packaging.
Together, we're choosing substance over presentation, and sustainability that actually works.
